Starting a New Practice

My teacher said recently that to be a good teacher you need to be able to teach as naked as possible. No, he didn’t mean that we should do “naked yoga” (yuck!). He did mean that we must be able to be as much of our authentic self as possible when teaching.

I believe he is 100% right about this. I am able to do that pretty well in person, but, truth is, I’m still discovering how to do that “on-line”. So here I am, finally beginning to blog, to discover how to be myself and offer something to our community that may be valuable in some way.

So I’m beginning where I am, and the truth is that this is uncomfortable for me!

That makes me think that this is just another part of practice. Yoga Sutra 2.1 says that Kriya-yoga (the path of action), consists of Self-discipline (Tapas), Self-study (Svadhyaya), and Surrender (Isvara Pranidhanani).

It’s interesting to me that we are constantly beginning new practices in our lives, and currently this is mine.

I look forward to uncovering my thoughts on this practice of yoga here with you. I promise that I will do that in the most truthful way possible.
